Lost in the Forest
Chelsea falls to Nottingham Forest, and use the international break to recover from injuries
Chelsea News
We're currently on an international break, and we need it.
Match Result: CHE 2 - AFC Wimbledon 1
It was a Carabao Cup match we should have won, and we did, but if you felt a disturbance in the Force it was because AFC Wimbledon came out to an 0-1 lead in the 19th minute that the Chels had to make up. Noni Madueke scored the equalizer in stoppage time of the first half, while Enzo scored his first goal for the club in the 72nd minute. There was no broadcast, but there are highlights!
Match Result: CHE 0 - FOR 1
The second game of the week was not as kind to the Blues. How does a team have more than 75% possession and still lose? They can't finish their attacks with goals, that's how. Nottingham was able to defend Sterling and Jackson well, allowing 21 shots but only 2 on target. If you want to relive those highlights, here they are:
Transfers and Injuries
Attention soccer shoppers: the transfer window is now closed. Please make your final selections and make your way to the register. Chelsea made a bit of a splash with a flurry of last minute activity:
Transferred IN:
- Cole Palmer from Man City
Transferred OUT:
- Callum Hudson-Odoi to Nottingham Forest
Loaned OUT:
- Mason Burstow to Sunderland
- Diego Moreira to Lyon
- Bashir Humphreys to Swansea City
As for injuries, Romeo Lavia suffered an injury in practice and is expected to be out for "an extended period" - exactly what we need to hear right now. The Lavia story is still developing. Chelsea still has a significant part of the squad out with injuries including captain Reece James, Christopher Nukunku, and Carney Chukwuemeka. Hopefully the squad can use the international break to rest and recover.
